Want to record a sale for a customer who lives far away, like a relative in another state, and deliver the product yourself later? Trail's End doesn't have a built-in "order online, Scout delivers" option like some other programs, but you can get the same result using Customer Device Payments paired with Delivering Later.
Note: This is different from Online Sales. Online Sales orders are always shipped directly to the customer. If you want the Scout to hand-deliver the product instead, use the steps below rather than an Online Sales link.
How It Works
Tap Make a Sale in the Trail's End App® and add the products to the cart.
At checkout, select Delivering Later so the sale is recorded but inventory isn't deducted from the Scout yet and you have the option to enter the Customer information.
Choose Customer Device to checkout, then select Text and enter the customer's phone number. They'll receive a link to pay on their own device, wherever they are.
Wait for the customer to complete payment. Once they do, the order will appear in your Orders list.
⚠️ Before delivering the product, confirm the order shows in your Orders list. Texted payment links don't expire, but there's no way to check their status or resend them from within the app, so don't hand over product on the assumption payment was made.
Once delivered, mark the order as delivered in the app so inventory is deducted correctly.
The Scout who records the sale gets full credit for it, the same as any other individual sale.
