Overview: How Scouts Join Your Unit
The easiest way to add Scouts to your unit is by sharing your Unit Code via QR code.
⚠️ Note: Due to COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection), Unit Leaders cannot create Scout accounts on behalf of Scouts. Parents must complete registration for their Scouts.
Share Your Unit Code
Your Unit Code links Scouts to the correct unit during registration. The fastest way to generate it is directly from the Scouts page in the Leader Portal.
How to generate your Unit Code
Log in to the Leader Portal.
Navigate to the Scouts page.
Click the Share button to generate a QR code that families can scan to download the Trail's End App® from the App Store or Google Play.
Once you've generated the code, you have two good options for getting it in front of families:
Option 1: Email it to your families
To get a head start before your kick-off meeting, you can send the Unit Code page directly to families over email.
To save the page so you can attach or embed it:
Save as PDF: Right-click anywhere on the Unit Code pop-up and choose Print, then select Save as PDF as your destination. This gives you a clean file you can attach to an email.
Save as an image: Take a screenshot of the pop-up and save it as an image file.
💡 Tip: Saving the page with "Save As" will download the whole webpage instead of just the image. Use Print > Save as PDF or a screenshot instead.

Option 2: Share it digitally at a meeting
If you'd rather walk families through it in person, this works great at a kick-off meeting.
Generate your Unit Code as described above.
Display the pop-up on a screen (projector, TV, or shared laptop screen) during your meeting. Or print a few copies to pass around.
Have families scan the QR code for their device to download the app and automatically enter your Unit Code.
Once registration is complete, the Scout will automatically appear in your unit roster.
Scouts Can Also Self-Register
Scouts or parents can register directly without the QR code by downloading the Trail's End App® and clicking Register on the main login page. When prompted, they'll enter your Unit Code manually to link to your unit.
⚠️ Note: Scouts must be age 18+ or have a parent complete registration.
Remove a Scout from your unit
Go to Scouts
Locate the Scout.
Select Remove under the Actions column (three dot menu on the right).
✅ Removing a Scout does not delete their account; it only removes them from your unit. The Scout will be prompted to select a new unit when they log in.
Move a Scout to another unit
If you know the unit the Scout is moving to and it is within your same Council, you can help them out by moving them to the right place.
Go to Scouts.
Locate the Scout.
Select Move under the Actions column (three dot menu on the right).
Note: If a Scout is moving outside of your Council, please Remove them instead. The Scout will be prompted to update their unit the next time they log in.
Exporting the Scout List
To download a copy of your Scout list, click Export Scout List in the top right corner of the Scouts page. This generates a file containing your Scout roster and their current data as displayed in the list, including each Scout's email address and phone number.
