Scout Safety and Privacy in Online Fundraising

Updated over 2 weeks ago

At Trail’s End, the safety and privacy of our Scouts is a top priority. We’ve built safeguards into our online fundraising platform to help protect Scouts while they participate in online sales.

Limited display name

Only a Scout’s first name and last initial appear on their online fundraising page. This helps maintain anonymity while still allowing supporters to see who they are supporting.

Scout pages are not searchable

Scout fundraising pages are not searchable through the Trail’s End website.

Pages are only accessible through:

  • A direct link shared by the Scout or their parent, or

  • A Scout code that is intentionally shared with a supporter

This ensures that only people a Scout chooses to share with can access their page.

No location information displayed

Trail’s End does not display any location details on a Scout’s online selling page.

Photos and personal details are optional

Scouts are not required to upload:

  • A profile photo

  • Activity photos

  • Personal details or a Scout story

  • All of these fields are optional and fully controlled by the Scout and their family.

Smart sharing guidance

We encourage Scouts and parents to be thoughtful about what they choose to share, especially in the Scout story section.

To help protect privacy:

  • Avoid including sensitive or identifying information

  • Do not share addresses, school names, or schedules

  • Keep stories focused on Scouting goals and experiences
