Biometric Authentication option may be turned off. Visit your Settings - App Settings.
If you have more than one Scout, you'll need to repeat for each Scout.
If using biometric authentication ensure your entire finger is covering your sensor, you may need to move your finger in a circular fashion or clean your sensor.
