Overview: How Scouts Join Your Unit
There are two ways Scouts can join your unit:
Scouts or parents self-register using your Unit Code. (Recommended)
Leader invites Scouts using the Invite Scouts feature.
⚠️ Due to COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection), Unit Leaders cannot create Scout accounts on behalf of Scouts. Parents must complete registration for their Scouts.
Recommended: Scouts Register Themselves
✅ The simplest and recommended way for Scouts to join your unit is self-registration using your Unit Code.
This approach is faster, reduces errors, and ensures accounts are created by Scouts or parents in compliance with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection).
How Scouts self-register
Download the Trail’s End app or visit:
https://login.trails-end.com/registration/scoutClick Register.
Enter Scout information (name, email, phone, username, password).
When prompted, enter your Unit Code.
Complete registration.
⚠️ Note: Scouts must be age 18+ or have a parent complete registration.
Leaders: Once registration is complete, the Scout will automatically appear in your unit roster.
What is a Unit Code and how is it used?
A Unit Code ensures Scouts are linked to the correct unit during registration.
Where leaders find the Unit Code
Log in to the Leader Portal: https://portal.trails-end.com
Your Unit Code appears under your name.
💡 Tips:
Share your Unit Code with families at your kick-off meeting.
This is the fastest way to add Scouts to your roster.
Alternative Option: Inviting Scouts by Email
If you prefer, you can invite Scouts using the Invite Scouts feature.
How to invite Scouts
Sign in to your Unit Leader Dashboard.
Click Invite Scouts at the top of the dashboard.
Enter the Scout’s first and last name, parent’s name, and email address.
To invite multiple Scouts, click Add 1 More Scout.

Inviting Families with Multiple Scouts
The same email address can be used for multiple Scouts.
Each Scout must have a unique username.
When inviting Scouts, simply change the Scout name for each invite.
Families can also self-register multiple Scouts using the same Unit Code.
Can I bulk upload Scouts?
At this time, bulk upload is not available.
Leaders must manually enter Scout information when sending invites.
Self-registration using the Unit Code is the fastest and easiest option.
How do I manage my Scout roster?
You can view and update your roster in the Leader Portal.
Remove a Scout from your unit
Go to Unit Info → Scout Roster.
Locate the Scout.
Select Remove under the Actions column.
✅ Removing a Scout does not delete their account, it only removes them from your unit. The Scout will be prompted to select a new unit when they log in.
Move a Scout to another unit
✅ Do this if you know the unit they are moving to.
