Adjustments, Reporting, and Special Scenarios

Once a split method is chosen, sales credit is calculated automatically based on shift sign-ups. Because of this, adjustments must be handled carefully.

Can Leaders Edit Scout Hours?

Scout hours cannot be edited directly.

Hours are calculated based on:

Shift registrations
Time assigned to those shifts

To adjust credit, leaders must add or remove Scouts from shifts, or use alternate adjustment methods outlined below.

Adjusting Credits When Scouts Arrive Late or Leave Early

Trail’s End recommends scheduling one Scout (with a parent) per shift whenever possible. This avoids the need for adjustments.

If your unit staffs multiple Scouts per shift and adjustments are needed:

General Guidelines

Set the expectation that Scouts work their full assigned shift.
If not possible, give credit if they worked most of the shift; otherwise, don't give credit.
Credit is based on shift assignment, not actual clock time.

Adjustment Options (When Needed)

We understand that sometimes units prefer to make adjustments due to various factors such as arriving late, leaving early, or staying for a longer period than scheduled.

If your unit decides to make additional adjustments, below are some potential solutions you can implement. Our support team cannot make adjustments for you.

If a Scout Worked Less Time Than Scheduled

If the split is:	Do this:
By shift	If they were the only Scout working the shift, there is no need to adjust. Recommended method to adjust: Determine the approximate amount of sales that the Scout should earn and convert that amount of sales to Wagon sales for the Scout. The remaining sales on the shift will be split among the Scouts assigned to that shift.
By day	If the storefront was arranged by your Unit: Add a new shift that is the correct length outside of your actual shifts and assign the Scout to this new shift. Withdraw the Scout from the previous shift. There is no need to move sales to the new shift. If the storefront was booked by Trail's End: Since it is not possible to change the shift lengths once sales have been recorded and you will not be able to add a shift outside of the reserved hours, it's best to either give the Scout credit if they worked the majority of the shift or not give the Scout credit if they missed most of the shift.

If a Scout Worked More Time Than Scheduled

If the split is	Do this:
By shift	If they were the only Scout working the shift, there is no need to adjust. Recommended method to adjust: Determine the approximate amount of sales that the Scout should earn and move the sales to the shift that the Scout was assigned to. The remaining sales on the shift will be split among the Scouts assigned to that shift.
By day	If the storefront was arranged by your Unit: Add a new shift that is the additional amount that the Scout worked outside of your actual shifts and assign the Scout to this new shift. Leave the Scout on the previous shift. There is no reason to move sales to the new shift. If the storefront was booked by Trail's End: Since it is not possible to change the shift lengths once sales have been recorded and you will not be able to add a shift outside of the reserved hours, it's best to either give the Scout credit if they worked the majority of the shift or not give the Scout credit if they missed most of the shift.

Can Sales be Split between Multiple Units Working the Same Storefront?

If multiple units need to work together, Trail’s End does not support automatic cross-unit splitting.

Possible Options

Combine units (if allowed by Council)
- All accounting is shared.
- Commissions must be separated manually.
Manual tracking and reconciliation
- One unit reserves the storefront and supplies inventory.
- Scouts from the reserving unit use Storefront Sales.
- Scouts from other unit records Scout (wagon) sales.
- Inventory is transferred between units afterward to reconcile.

Do All Scouts Need to Be Recording Sales to get Credit?

Individual split:
Yes. Each Scout must log in and record their own sales to receive credit.
Shift or Day split:
No. As long as the Scout is signed up for the shift, they will receive credit - even if another Scout records the sale.
