What is a Scout Sale?
Scout Sales, also known as Wagon Sales, are in-person sales made directly by a Scout to customers, typically friends, family, neighbors, or door-to-door supporters.
These sales are fulfilled using product provided by the Unit Leader, not shipped directly to the customer.
Units typically use one of two methods:
Option 1: Selling with Product in Hand
Some units purchase inventory in advance so Scouts can carry products with them while selling.
The Scout gives the product to the customer at the time of sale
The sale is recorded and marked Delivered in the Trail’s End system
Option 2: Taking Orders for Later Delivery
Some units have Scouts take orders without carrying inventory.
The Scout records the sale and marks it Undelivered
Marking the order undelivered lets the Unit Leader know the product must be ordered
The Scout receives the product from the Unit Leader at a later date
The Scout then delivers the product to the customer
Important: It is essential to correctly mark orders as Delivered or Undelivered so your Unit Leader knows what products to order.
Are Scout Sales shipped directly to the customer?
No. Scout Sales are not shipped directly to the customer regardless of whether they are marked undelivered or delivered.
Products are fulfilled using inventory ordered by the Unit Leader from the Council
The Scout is responsible for delivering the products to the customer
If you want products shipped directly to the customer, please use Online Sales. See:
Note: Online products may differ from Scout Sales in product availability, pricing, shipping, and tax.
Is there a way to split Scout Sales evenly between Scouts?
Yes. While Scout Sales are recorded under a single Scout at a time, there are two common ways to fairly distribute sales.
Best Practice: Rotate Scouts in the App
If Scouts are selling together, rotate sales between Scouts when recording each sale.
Login with more than one Scout to the Trail’s End App:
Sign in to the app using the first Scout’s username and password
Tap the Scout’s name in the upper left corner
Tap Add another Scout
Enter the username and password for the additional Scout
(You can also register a new Scout from this screen by selecting 'Register')
Once the Scouts are logged in, switch between Scouts:
Tap the Scout’s name in the upper left corner of the app
Select the Scout you want to record the next sale for
Alternative: Storefront Split Method
If your unit uses a storefront split, you can:
Set up a storefront for the Scouts selling together
The system will automatically split sales using the same method as your storefront split rules
